Alfonzo Blakely was born on November 27, 1932 to Albert Blakely, Sr. and Emma Blakemore Blakely in Franklin, Tennessee. He departed this life on March 22, 2023. He attended Williamson County Public School, and later moved to Detroit, Michigan and attended Wayne State University. He served in the United States Army, after which he was employed by USPBGC-Petrie Retail Inc. for over forty years.
Alonzo united with First Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, Tennessee at an early age under the pastorate of Reverend Luther Coleman. As a young man he sang in a quartet. After living many years in Michigan, he returned to Tennessee and united with Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church and served as an usher. He loved his church.
Alfonzo loved family gathering and just being around family. He enjoyed traveling up and down the road with his brother Bill who preceded him in death. He enjoyed walking and loved eating. he is preceded in death by his parents, albert and Emma Blakely, Sr., siblings: Albert Jr., Will, Lewis Cecil, Lafayette, Luther Coleman, Nellie Erline Lewis, and Emma May Hancock.
He leaves to cherish his memories sisters, Hester Hamilton and Willie Mai Glenn, sister-in-law, Cora Blakely, devoted niece, Sharon Blakely, devoted nephew, Albert Blakely, III., devoted cousins, Joyce Turay and Shirley Jones, dear friends, George and Charlotte Gaines and Sue Ward, Delia Seigenthaler, and a host of niece, nephews, cousins, and friends.
