Albert Larry

May 1, 1933 — December 17, 2024

Albert Larry, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, entered this world on May 1, 1933, in West Point, Mississippi, as one of nine cherished children born to Charlie and Daisy (Young) Larry. From a young age, Albert found hope and faith in Christ, becoming a devoted member of Swift Tabernacle Baptist Church. There, he was ordained as a Deacon at Swift Tabernacle Church in 1976, serving faithfully for over 50 years before joining The Temple Church, where he remained a steadfast and active member until his health declined.

At the age of 16, Albert moved from Westpoint, MS, to Nashville, Tn. where he met Frances Stafford. On September 22, 1956, Albert married the love of his life, Frances Stafford. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and faith, blessed with five wonderful children. Frances stood as Albert’s greatest blessing, embodying the true meaning of devotion. Through every stage of his life, she was his rock, his protector, and his constant source of strength. In his later years, as his health began to fail, Frances became his full-time caregiver, devoting herself entirely to his comfort and well-being. With boundless love and unwavering patience, she cared for him with selfless sacrifice, ensuring that he always felt supported, cherished, and loved. Her commitment was a testament to their enduring bond, and she remained faithfully by his side until he peacefully departed this world, surrounded by family, on Tuesday December 17, 2024.

Albert’s work ethic was unparalleled. He spent 36 years at United States Tobacco, never missing a single day of work—a testament to his dedication and perseverance. After retiring, Albert continued to demonstrate his entrepreneurial spirit, building a successful window-washing business that he passionately worked in until his health prevented him. He passed on his knowledge by mentoring his son Kenneth and his nephew, Darrin Stafford, who continues Albert's legacy in his own thriving business.

A man of simple joys, Albert loved playing checkers, often with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, as he was known to sneak moves when his opponents weren’t paying attention. His love for music, especially the soulful tunes of Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers, filled his heart and home. In their youth, his children often sang backup as he led hymns of God’s faithfulness. Even as his voice grew weak, he continued to sing with all his soul, a testament to his enduring spirit.

Albert’s life was blessed by many deep and cherished relationships, each of which brought him joy and comfort.

  • Among them, his bond with his granddaughter Ashleigh Barker stood out as extraordinary—a relationship for the history books. Ashleigh was the apple of his eye and the heart outside of his chest. Their connection was one of unconditional love, trust, and devotion. She never left his side, caring for him as though she were his personal nurse, tending to his every need with unwavering dedication. Their bond was a mutual source of joy, bringing light and comfort to both their lives.

  • Albert’s son-in-love, Carlton Barker, was another pillar of love and support in his later years. To Albert, Carlton was more than a son-in-law; he was a devoted son who stepped in selflessly, fulfilling every role from handyman to personal assistant, lawn caretaker, and protector of the family home. Carlton’s care for Albert went beyond obligation—it was an expression of true love and respect.
  • Finally, Albert shared an unbreakable bond with his brother-in-love, Isham (Bubba) Stafford. Over 68 years of unwavering loyalty, friendship, and mutual respect, Isham was a steadfast presence in Albert’s life, embodying the definition of family.

Albert leaves behind his devoted wife, Frances Larry, who loved him fiercely and cared for him tenderly, honoring their vows in the truest sense. He also leaves four children to carry on his memory: Pamela Larry, Tanya Larry Beard, Kenneth (Josie) Larry, and Sharon (Carlton) Barker.

Albert adored his grandchildren: Monesa (Carter) Winford of San Jose, California, his devoted granddaughter Ashleigh Barker, and his devoted grandsons Joseph Johnson of Charlotte, North Carolina and Kendal Barker. He was also blessed with two great-grandsons, Kristopher Luellen II and Jaylen Harding, and a host of great-great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy. Albert also leaves to cherish his memory a host of devoted nieces and nephews, as well his devoted sister-in-law Theresa (Michael) Sales who he was extremely fond of.

Albert was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Monica Larry, and all eight of his siblings: Mary Sue Rice, Bertha Garth, R.L. Larry, Susie Goosby, Annie Bell Johnson, Charlie Ann Dewalt, Pollock Larry, and Johnny Larry. With his passing, the nine siblings are joyfully reunited with their parents, Charlie and Daisy, completing their circle once again.

Albert Larry’s life was a testament to faith, family, and love. His presence brought light and joy to those fortunate enough to know him. While his absence leaves a profound void, his legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion will live on forever in the hearts of those he touched.
