Abraham Simmons, II

Abraham Teeweh Simmons, Jr. was born on October 2, 1949, in Monrovia, Liberia, to the union of Bishop Abraham Teeweh Simmons, Sr. and Mother Cora Berry Simmons. Known affectionately as "Abe" by family and friends, he lived a life filled with dedication, service, and love for those around him. Abe began his education at Haywood Industrial Mission (HIM) and accepted Christ at an early age at the Pentecostal Assembly of the World on Front Street in Monrovia. 

He attended The College of West Africa, where he graduated from High School in December 1965. In 1966, he enrolled at the University of Liberia to continue his studies. However, in 1968, he moved to the United States to further his education. Abe attended Northrop Institute of Technology in Inglewood, California, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering, and later Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California, where he received his master's degree in 1971.

Abe married the mother of his two children, Ida (Peaches) Davis, and from that union, they were blessed with Melinda Simmons Shaw and Abraham T. Simmons, III.Abe re-married in 2015 to Mydea Ellen White. After their divorce, he did not remarry. Abe served God and His Country. He believed in the two commandments that Jesus left, and kept it simple: Love God and Love People. The Good Deacon, as he was affectionately called, was a staunch member of Providence Baptist Church, Monrovia, Liberia, where Rev. Dr. Samuel Reeves is the Pastor. According to his Pastor he was not just a member, but a dedicated servant. He served in the capacity of Deacon, Advisor, and Strategic Planning Chairperson of Providence Baptist Church, and Board Member of the Liberia Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention in West Africa. Deacon Abraham T. Simmons, after retiring from the USA, returned to serve his home Country, Liberia, West Africa, where he served various positions. He most recently served as the Executive Director and Principal Deputy of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau in the Republic of Liberia, West Africa. Said appointment was made by His Excellency President Joseph N. Boakai. Neither illness nor distance hindered him from serving. While under going Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy & treatments in the United States.

Deacon Simmons worked tirelessly day and night for his Church and Country, Liberia, having meetings and conference calls electronically, all hours of the night because of the six hours time difference. He proudly talked about how the guys who were sent for training had graduated. He served in these capacities for his Church & Country until his demise. Abe was involved Socially & Charitably in different Communities via the Masonic Organization, serving as Past Worthy Patron of Joseph A. Meekins Lodge #103, F&AM, PHA in Lancaster, California, USA. After retiring in the United States, he returned to Liberia, West Africa, where he continued to be a loving father, grandfather, and friend. Upon his return home to Liberia, he joined the Oriental Lodge No. 1, Grand Masonic Temple, in Monrovia, Liberia, where he served as Past Master. 

Abe was preceded in death by his father, Bishop Abraham Teeweh Simmons Sr.; his mother, Evangelist Rev. Cora Berry Simmons; his daughter, Melinda Simmons Shaw; and his sisters, Mrs. Cecilia Roberts, Ms. Comfort Alberta Simmons, and Reverend Dr. Naomi Simmons Seekie.He leaves behind his son, Abraham T. Simmons, III (wife - Joy Simmons), his two grandsons, Abraham T. Simmons, IV and Noah Simmons; his son-in-law, Marcus Shaw, and his only granddaughter, Mia Shaw. Additionally, 

Abe is survived by his loving siblings: Mr. Ernest (Mrs. Etta) Simmons; Minister Almatee Dolly Simmons, Reverend Dr. William Choloh (Rev. Dr. Marie) Simmons, Ms. Martha Simmons, Mrs. Evelyn (Dr. Alfred) Shaw, Reverend Dr. Herbert (Evg. Georgia) Simmons, Mr. Eric Simmons, and Evangelist Dr. Josephine Simmons Dennis; his Aunt, Mother Eva Toe, along with a host of loving and devoted nieces, nephews, grandnieces. grand-nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Abe will be remembered for his wisdom, his generosity, and his unwavering faith. Ile was a man who lived with purpose, always striving to make a positive impact on everyone around him. His deep love for his family, his dedication to his faith, and his contributions to the community will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire. His life was a testament to the importance of education, service to others, and a steadfast belief in God. His kindness, laughter, and the lessons he imparted will echo for generations. Abe's legacy lives on through his family, his son, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family and through the countless lives he touched. His memory will be cherished by all who loved him, and he will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
